My artwork takes a view of the natural world that surrounds us. I deconstruct landscapes, gardens, oceans and waterfalls and turn them into abstraction. While my artwork is based in abstraction, the resulting paintings lean toward impressionism and /or expressionism.
Other times the resulting paintings will evoke an emotion in the viewer; sometimes they will evoke an unknown emotion. The color red evokes power and inspiration, while blues and greens will suggest a subdued calmness. Although the paintings are complex to paint, they are not meant to be complex to view. I allow the viewer to take from the painting what they believe that they see. Often times the viewer will see something new within the piece each day.
I mainly paint in oil, applied on canvas or wood, which creates a lustrous look. The complexity in creating my work results in multiple layers of oil. This creates a textured piece, while using various brushes and palette knives to give that texture a u |
